Sunday: A Dork and a Pastime

After a week chock-full of charity and arts, you’re looking for something more relaxed for today. You could sit inside with a cup of tea and re-read Harry Potter for the umpteenth time, or, better yet, you could go to Randall’s Island to watch the Quidditch World Cup. Yes, that’s right, the sport is no longer a mere figment of the imagination and Warner Brother’s CGI. Taking J.K. Rowling’s sport to an alarming new level, 100 teams will compete for the highly coveted title of Quidditch world champion. Unlike in the books and films, there won’t be any death defying nose dives because, well, brooms don’t fly in real life. Needless to say, Potter paraphernalia will be on sale by the truckload.

Quidditch World Cup, Randall’s Island, 9am-10pm; tickets, from $4.99 available at Sunday: A Dork and a Pastime
