We stumbled across Christopher Herwig’s “Soviet Bus Stops” first, and marveled. But weird as these constructions are, they didn’t prepare us for Frédéric Chaubin’s fever-dream photos of late-Soviet-era Brutalist buildings—all of which stand, in bizarre counterpoint, to Russia’s old, abandoned wooden mansions (which are also well worth looking at, and made us think that life under the czars might have been only slightly less insane).
