Blanco first mayor to back Pascrell in 9th

TRENTON – Dr. Alex Blanco, mayor of Passaic, pledged his support for U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell via Facebook today.

“I have tremendous respect for Passaic County Democratic Chairman John Currie and the county organization. Chairman Currie stood with me in my first campaign for Mayor, and I continue to stand by him today,” Blanco said. “Since becoming Mayor, I have campaigned along with many good Democrats. I have campaigned with Congressman Bill Pascrell and I have seen first-hand his commitment to Democratic values. Congressman Pascrell has fought hard for my constituents in the City of Passaic for years, and he has significant community support.”

Blanco is one of a number of politicians being courted by the Pascrell camp, a full list of which is expected on Monday.

According to several sources, the other Passaic City heavyweight, Councilman and Assemblyman Gary Schaer (D-36) has not endorsed Pascrell, and may not.

Blanco continued on his page, “I believe we share a common concern for the City of Passaic and its hard working residents. I am endorsing Congressman Bill Pascrell, and look forward to working together on the campaign trail and with his continuing efforts in Washington D.C.”
