The Healy for Mayor campaign is real, sources confirm to PolitickerNJ.com.
Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healy and his allies are already gearing up for full blown fundraising mode as they look to a third term election in 2013.
Healy had a fundraiser at Puccini’s last week in which he hauled in well over $60,000, sources say.
So far the mayor has at least two serious challengers: downtown Councilman Steve Fulop and state Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-31).
At the League of Municipalities in Atlantic City last month, Cunningham caused a stir when she circulated with Pablo Fonseca, former fixer and chief of staff to Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
Fonseca is said to be playing an advisory role in the Cunningham camp.
