Respected Carpenters Union political operative Trish Mueller won’t join the staff of Assembly Majority Leader-elect Lou Greenwald (D-6) after all, sources told PolitickerNJ.com this week.

A former statewide director for Obama’s presidential campaign, Mueller worked hard for the successful 2011 campaign of fellow carpenter Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-7), and her efforts made her a South Jersey organization natural for a back chamber power position in Trenton.  

SJ thought they had just the right fit with a deputy executive director seat in the newly forming Majority Leader Greenwald brain trust.  

Mary Messenger already has that job title but ever since James Gee left, no one has filled the second command chair on the Assembly Majority bridge, and it looked like it could be a Messenger-Mueller tag team last week with the carpenters and Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-34) remaining to OK the deal.

Now it won’t happen.
