Take this charming, crowd-sourced Web project out for a year-end spin

The Single Lane Super Highway is the kind of crowd-sourced Web project you’ll actually want to be a part of.

Designed by Aaron Koblin (who is best known as the creator of Arcade Fire’s interactive video for “The Wilderness Downtown”), the Super Highway invites you to add your own car, truck, tank, bus, or rickshaw to the thousands of mouse-drawn vehicles submitted by other users. The simplest ones must have taken just a few moments to draw (as of this writing, there are 19,277 vehicles on the virtual road). Others are quite elaborate. To flag down the one that catches your fancy, just click on it: You’ll see the way it was drawn, and how old its maker was. And if checking one or two of these vehicles out up close doesn’t inspire you to create one of your own, sit back and watch the whole procession crawl, single-file, across your screen.
