After carousing with fellow salonnières hier soir, you’re glad to perpetuate the Parisian reverie tonight. Happily, the Alliance Française is hosting its annual benefit gala. Co-chaired by philanthropic, Francophilic multimillionaires Robert G. Wilmers and Paul J. Fribourg, the event will bring the haut monde together from their diasporic corners. Acclaimed restaurateur Alain Ducasse will be honored for his contributions to French gastronomy, while Paul Desmarais Jr., the CEO of Power Corporation Canada, will receive the Plier D’or award. (Odd pair of honorees, in our book, but at least the food will be good, and the lights will be on.) In any case, you’ll sip (read: guzzle) the fine wine and savor the cuisine, all the while making bilingue (O.K., maybe just Frenglish) small talk with the city’s cross-cultural gentility. Bonne chance!

Trophée des Arts Gala 2011, 583 Park Avenue. For tickets, contact Florent Chauvin at fchauvin@fiaf.org or call 646-388-6632.
