Although our antics last week have gotten us blacklisted from most media events in the foreseeable future, there’s one old friend upon whom we can always rely when times get tough. Tonight, Artforum and Bookforum are having their holiday shindig, affording us one of our final opportunities to drink on the tab of the printed word. We¹re a dying breed, you know! The complimentary culture rags will hold their holiday fête at Keith McNally¹s subterranean lushing crib, Pravda, appropriately named after the Moscow daily (talk about the death of print!). You’ll savor the caviar, throw back a few vodka shots and toast the proletariat. Always in the know, you¹ll make your way to the intimate upstairs den, where worn-in leather club chairs and the four-person bar will have you feeling like Lenin during his Parisian exile. Soon, alcohol-infused inspiration will strike, and you’ll have to head home to write your novel before unwelcome sobriety settles in once more.
Artforum/Bookforum holiday party, Pravda, 281 Lafayette Street. By invitation only.
