While working on yesterday’s story about the new Renzo Piano-designed restaurant planned for under the High Line, we stumbled on this rather amazing video of the new Whitney posted on the Hight Line blog.

A version of this pic has been shown at various community events, and grainy pictures of the space have emerged on sites like Curbed, but seeing it here in its entirety is pretty jaw-dropping. As big fans of the original Marcel Breuer building, The Observer was sorry to see the Whitney heading downtown. Now it seems clear we are gaining as much of what might be lost—which really isn’t lost anyway with the Met moving in.
