In the ongoing endorsement arms build-up in the 9th District, Communications Workers of America (CWA) 1039 today endorsed U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell for re-election.
According to Lionel Leach, president of CWA Local 1039, Pascrell received 60% of the vote in a poll of CWA Local 1039 members living in the new Congressional District.
The survey, conducted Friday, Jan. 20, involved a telephone poll of approximately 500 public employees.
“I am pleased to announce our strong endorsement of Congressman Bill Pascrell,” said Leach. “Congressman Pascrell is a forceful fighter for working families in New Jersey, and a stalwart supporter of Labor.”
In rewarding Pascrell, the union denied U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman.
“We applaud the efforts of Congressman Rothman on behalf of New Jersey,” added Leach. “But our members are clear in their belief that Congressman Pascrell best represents the fighter New Jersey workers and families need going forward.”
CWA Local 1039 represents and advocates on behalf of 4,120 workers in New Jersey’s public sector.
