TRENTON – In a dramatic moment, the Senate was two votes short of approval on S1954, sponsored by state Sen. Bob Smith, (D-17), Piscataway.
The bill establishes a forest harvest program on state-owned land, but it took a few minutes before the Senate was able to forward the measure.
Approved, 22-14, the measure was opposed by state Sen. John Girgenti, (D-35), Hawthorne, and a bloc of Republicans.
