N.J. to receive $64.6M for storm-damaged roads

TRENTON – The federal Transportation Department has awarded New Jersey a multimillion-dollar grant to fix heavily-used roads damaged by the major storms last August.

The $64,695,620 grant will be used for the repair or reconstruction of highways and roads that have suffered serious damage as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

The funds will help relieve state coffers that would have to be dipped into to pay for the repairs, officials said.
