To Do Thursday: Old Is The New New

We weathered the holiday season, deftly balancing our familial and social commitments, and are in desperate need of a brief reprieve. We hear the weather is atrocious in St. Barth’s (il faut l’ecrire comme les Français, bien sûr) this week, so we’re city-bound, nevertheless looking to be transported to a land of lackadaisical luxury. We’re ditching the usual Viogonier-and-Valium method, so thank god tonight is the opening party for the Winter Antiques Show! Chaired by Arie Kopelman, with a bevy of Rockefellers as honorary officers, the evening always attracts the city’s silkiest stockings. Over cocktails, we’ll peruse the artifacts, smiling in an aureate haze. We’re in the market for a Federal-period sideboard, and some Ming Dynasty ceramics. Drink in hand, we’ll mingle with our peers, make note of our desired objets d’art and hope against hope for a Kano brothers siting.

Winter Antiques Show Opening Night Party, Park Avenue Armory, 67th Street and Park Avenue, 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets, from $500, available at http://www.winterantiquesshow.com/cms/special-events/opening-night-party/index.shtml.
