Weekly Advance: Week of Jan. 30

TRENTON – Top Priorities Week in Trenton kicks off with Gov. Chris Christie’s main objective for 2012, and wraps with the Democratic majorities’ leading initiative.

Today, the Senate Budget Committee will be hearing testimony on Christie’s income tax cut plan. The panel invited the state treasurer to appear to discuss the plan, but he turned down the invite. No one from the office will be before the Democratic Legislature until after the budget address, according to a spokesperson for Treasury. He said the pre-budget tango is an annual bipartisan event, in which the lawmakers try to draw out information before its time.  Not happening.

On Thursday, the Assembly Judiciary Committee will be hearing A1, the marriage equality bill, that had 31 votes as of last week, according to bill sponsor Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, (D-15), Trenton.

Gov. Chris Christie has an 11 a.m. press conference today that may include another cabinet-level exit, according to a PolitickerNJ source.
