Well this is just very good publicity for the MTA. We can’t believe they didn’t think of this sooner: in an effort to raise awareness for their Rat Free Subways initiative, the TWU held a contest in which the person who took the ugliest photo of a vermin would win a free monthly Metrocard.

Michael Spivack took a photo of this Rat King (or Queen, but definitely do not Google image search “rat king” unless you want nightmares forever) at a Seventh Ave. station at 3 a.m.

According to the New York Post, this photo beat out dozens of others for the prize. Dozens. That’s how many people think it’s worth $103 to take vomit-inducing photos of rats to prove to the MTA that yes, the rats in New York subway stations are nauseating. Good job, everyone! Here is the ugliest rat ever!
