The Politicker already noted Democrats’ efforts to tie recently announced Senate candidate Bob Turner to his old television show featuring controversial talk show host Rush Limbaugh, but Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign made the argument even more transparent this evening by sending out a fundraising email blast to her supporters entitled, “Rush’s guy.”

“We’re are less than 72 hours away from the New York State Republican convention and just today, Rush Limbaugh’s former producer, Congressman Bob Turner, entered the race to take on Kirsten,” the email began.

“Maybe he was inspired by her unfaltering defense of women’s rights in the Senate or his old pal Rush being back in the news again,” the campaign further mused. “Or maybe he just thinks he deserves a promotion and can push Kirsten aside, but we need to show right-wing Congressman Turner and her other extreme opponents that Kirsten is no push over.”

Additionally emphasizing Ms. Gillibrand’s messaging, the email was penned by Lilian Choi of “Women for Gillibrand.”

Earlier this evening, Mr. Turner’s campaign sent The Politicker a statement about the Gillibrand campaign’s previous Limbaugh-themed attack.

“Between Obamacare, surging gas prices, and being labeled the most -left wing senator in the country this month, Kirsten Gillibrand is in big trouble this year,” Mr. Turner’s spokeswoman, Jessica Proud, said. “It’s no wonder that her out-of-touch policies and status as the ultimate Washington insider have kept her from resonating with average New Yorkers.”

Dear Friend,

We’re are less than 72 hours away from the New York State Republican convention and just today, Rush Limbaugh’s former producer, Congressman Bob Turner, entered the race to take on Kirsten.

Maybe he was inspired by her unfaltering defense of women’s rights in the Senate or his old pal Rush being back in the news again. Or maybe he just thinks he deserves a promotion and can push Kirsten aside, but we need to show right-wing Congressman Turner and her other extreme opponents that Kirsten is no push over.

That’s why we need to raise $100,000 before March 31 to prove that Kirsten has what it takes to win.

Show them we mean business. Right now. Today.

Click here to rush $5 or more to Kirsten’s campaign. Congressman Bob Turner just entered the race today and we have to show him what he’s up against.

We all need to get involved and get invested to make sure Kirsten wins in November so she can keep fighting for us.

We can’t give her opponents even a tiny opening to gain traction. That’s why giving right this minute is so important. Please, don’t wait until it’s too late.
