Flung face down on the sidewalk by the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), West New York Mayor Felix Roque’s county committee candidates’ slate won’t have the A Line in Hudson, but candidates with the imprimatur of state Sen. Nick Sacco (D-32) will, according to sources close to the continuing rancorous political situation in North Hudson.
A source close to the powerbrokering Sacco said North Bergen operatives with connective tissue to Sacco are working with reps from the office of U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-13) to firm up their handhold on the Democratic committee members in West New York.
Last night, HCDO Chairman Mark Smith rejected a roster of 58 names submitted by Roque.
A Sacco source said the senator is trying to consolidate county committee power in West New York, to the chagrin of Roque.
West New York was in state Sen. Brian P. Stack’s district prior to redistricting last year that rerouted the town into Sacco’s 32nd.
