Funeral services have been set for Deborah Dowdell, the longtime president of the New Jersey Restaurant Associaiton who died Friday.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, N.J. 08873. The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, N.J.
Dowdell, 46, died after a long battle with cancer.
She had been employed by the restaurant association since 1990 and had been president of the Trenton-based organization since 2003.
Dowdell served as vice president of the New Jersey Travel Industry Association and was secretary/treasurer of The Council of State Restaurant Associations.
She was a member of Gov. Chris Christie’s transition team as a member of the economic development and growth subcommittee.
