Twitter announced today that it has acquired Posterous, the B-List blogging platform and temporary homepage for DJ sensation Paul Phusion. Once heralded as one of the “Hottest Silicon Valley Companies,” Posterous failed to successfully differentiate itself from its much more popular (and NYC-based!) competitor, Tumblr. Compete.com says that Posterous gets just under 1.2 million unique visitors a month, compared to Tumblr’s 18+ million.
For now, there appear to be no plans to shutter Posterous. “Posterous Spaces will remain up and running without disruption,” reads the blog post on the acquisition. “We’ll give users ample notice if we make any changes to the service.”
We hate to say we called it… but we totally called it.
