Donovan takes ax to authority

TRENTON – Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan fired seven of the nine commissioners on the Northwest Bergen County Utilities authority, according to a report in The Record of Bergen County.

The commissioners were fired because they refused to give up stipends and medical benefits, according to the report.

The seven commissioners were accused of misconduct “for ignoring Donovan’s repeated vetoes of their minutes over the stipend issue over several months,” according to the Record, while the other two commissioners did not take a stipend.

The report noted that Donovan plans to name replacement commissioners later this month. Donovan takes ax to authority
