On Monday, federal prosecutors filed charges against the 75-year-old Robert Gentile, a Manchester, Conn., man with ties to organized crime. According to the Hartford Courant, authorities said they found a “veritable arsenal” in his basement, a no-no for a former felon, and intend to use this information to obtain information they believe he has about the notorious Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist of 1990.

That robbery, right out of Hollywood, had a team of men dressing as policemen as they made off with 13 masterpieces in 90 minutes, among them works by Rembrandt and Degas. The crime remains unsolved, and many wondered if the arrest of Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger last year would turn up new leads in the case.
