A Ron Paul supporter successfully used the funding site Kickstarter to make “The Road to REVOLution,” a video game based on the exploits of longshot libertarian-leaning Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. In the game, devoted Paulites can take the role of their hero as they “collect Delegates to ensure your seat as the President, collect Gold Coins to unlock branches of the Federal Reserve where you defeat bosses and progress your quest to end the Federal Reserve.”
The Ron Paul video game is the brainchild of Daniel Williams, whose bio on Kickstarter identifies him as “a dude” and a “serial creativist” who hails from Mr. Paul’s home state of Texas. Mr. Williams is also the “programmer and co-founder” of the site RonPaulSwag.com. He created a page on Kickstarter to obtain $5,000 for the video game project and ended up earning nearly twice that amount.
“The Road to REVOLution” is described on the Kickstarter page as “a sidescrolling platformer action/adventure game, reminiscent of console classics like Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog.” In a video introducing the project, Mr. Williams said he created the game as part of his ongoing quest to make “liberty sexy again.” Mr. Williams expects to be finished with the game in about June and plans to make an online version available free as his “gift to the revolution.”
