Internet searchers looking for news on Democratic Newark Mayor Cory Booker are finding a result they didn’t expect.
The National GOP has begun running a Google Ad asking searchers to “Stand with Cory Booker” in his fight for free enterprise.
The ad is seeking to capitalize on Booker’s recent appearance on “Meet the Press” where he slammed an attack against Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
The ad Booker took issue with came from President Obama’s re-election campaign and jabbed Romney’s former investment company, Bain Capital, calling it – and Romney – a destroyer of jobs.
“To me it’s just, we’re getting to a ridiculous point in America, especially that I know I live in a state where pension funds, unions and other people are investing in companies like Bain Capital,” said Booker, a surrogate for the Obama campaign. “If you look at the totality of Bain Capital’s record they’ve done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses. And this to me, I’m very uncomfortable with.”
A click through on the Google ad brings the viewer to a petition with the headline “I Stand With Cory. Don’t let the Obama campaign silence support for job creation.”
“Yesterday New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker, a surrogate spokesman for the Obama campaign, called the president’s attacks on the free market “ridiculous”. That’s right Mr. President, we aren’t going to let you destroy free enterprise. Stand up for America. Stand up for job creators,” reads the text of the ad which includes a space to sign a petition and a video of the “Meet the Press” spot.
Good news for the GOP: Booker is trending number 4 right now on Google.
