Artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset presented British schoolchildren with this year’s Fourth Plinth Schools Award. The winner was Alexander Eveleigh, a Year 6 student, for Vampire Elephant (pictured at left).
There were over 700 entries, including things like a sculpture of Hackney Town Hall (the second place winner), Huge Pigeon (you can guess what that looked like) and Royal Cake (a three-tier wedding cake with pictures of the royal family on it). Some of it looks better than a lot of what you see in certain commercial galleries in New York, which probably isn’t that surprising. Congrats, everyone!
