TRENTON – A controversial bill concerning permit extensions and the resolution condemning the proposed waiver rule were tabled from today’s Senate session.
When asked why, Senate President Stephen Sweeney said simply, “we’re holding it for now,” and gave no specific reason.
However, sources said both bills were held as part of a deal. With Democratic Sen. Bob Smith unavailable, the waiver rule resolution would probably not garner enough votes to pass, sources said. Not all Democrats are on board with the waiver rule resolution.
In exchange for holding the waiver rule resolution, the bill on permit extensions was also held as part of a trade-off, according to the source.
