Governor’s office fires back at Senate Dems over Harris comments

TRENTON – Gov. Chris Christie’s office fired back at Senate Democrats today for implying the governor’s Supreme Court nominee’s lack of courtroom experience may be a focal point of the man’s confirmation hearing.

Senate Democrats said earlier in the week that Bruce Harris may face a brief hearing next week because “there’s just not a lot of experience to question him on,” said Sen. Nicholas Scutari, (D-22), Linden, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The governor’s office responded today.

“Before a second of testimony has been heard or a single question has been asked, once again Democrats are disrespecting the nomination process and rushing to judgment to kill another qualified man’s nomination before he even sits in the committee room,” said Christie spokesman Kevin Roberts. “Nominees to our state’s highest court deserve better than this.”
