Legalized sports betting?

The New Jersey and New York U.S. Senate delegations have been engaged in their own form of legalized betting of late over the NHL playoff matchup between the Rangers and the Devils.

Hardly born of the social media age, the four senators have nevertheless been engaged in a Twitter war of words over team honor.

The bet is a slice of pizza purchased by the loser on the winner’s home turf.

“@ChuckSchumer @SenGillibrand, I’ll ask @FrankLautenberg, but I think we both like pepperoni on our pizza #LetsGoDevils#StanleyCupToNewark,” read a Tweet from U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, (D-NJ)

“My bet w/Gillibrand, Lautenberg & Menendez: when Rangers win they buy us Grimaldi’s. If Devils win, we buy some NJ ‘Pizza’. Go Rangers!,” said a Tweet from U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

Personally, we’d rather see Schumer and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand forced to don a Devils jersey and stand outside the Garden for a few hours should the Rangers lose.
