TRENTON – Sen. Kevin O’Toole sought to balance out the “lack of experience’’ attacks Democrats launched on state Supreme Court nominee Bruce Harris today.
Republican O’Toole gave Harris an opportunity to discuss his extensive experience in transactional matters involving billions of dollars in complex bond deals.
O’Toole further pointed out that much of a Supreme Court docket in a given year focuses – not on criminal law – but on matters as diverse as constitutional law, insurance, ethics, business finance, local land use, and more.
He told Harris that given his life experience in the law as well as mayor of Chatham he would seem to be aptly qualified for the high court.
“It seems to me that even though you specialize,’’ O’Toole said, “given your life experience, your broader range could help shape your judgment as a justice of the Supreme Court.’’
