U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan’s (R-3) office in the Longworth House building was burglarized last month, but rather than make off with the massive-game-worn Eagles Jersey on the wall, the thieves scored handfuls of change, cameras and a scarf.
According to a spokesman for Runyan, the office has been hit twice and is one of several that have been burglarized in the building. Other representatives have lost autographed balls, cameras, computer equipment and alcohol. (Anyone else picturing Mad Men?)
The break-ins have happened at night, leading staffers to believe it’s employees – potentially cleaning people – who are the culprits.
In one case, the discerning thieves rummaged a drawer to steal change, but left behind all of the pennies.
Other congressmen hit include U.S. Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA) and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC).
