In a display of confidence for the Wowkanech/Brennan leadership team, nearly 700 convention delegates today voted unanimously to re-elect President Charles Wowkanech and Secretary-Treasurer Laurel Brennan to their fourth four-year term, and unanimously re-elected all members of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Executive Board.
Tom Giblin, Business Manager of IUOE Local 68 – President Wowkanech’s home local – said, “Despite these challenging times in our state, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO continues to make a positive difference in the lives of working families by advancing progressive legislation and standing up for economic and social justice. The Wowkanech/Brennan team continues to lead by example, working tirelessly on behalf of our state’s working men and women; I am proud to participate in the nomination of these two extraordinary leaders in our state labor movement.”
A gratified Wowkanech said, “I am privileged and honored to continue serving as President of the one-million-member New Jersey State AFL-CIO. Working together, we have made great progress and we will continue to build a movement for the next generation of workers. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is more united and more determined than ever in its resolve to uplift New Jersey’s working families and advance a progressive agenda in our state.”
