Essex County Republican Committee Chairman Al Barlas tonight wants to secure his first, four-year term as chairman of the party when the county GOP reorganizes.
That won’t be hard.
He has no opposition.
Bylaws require candidates to have filed by last Friday and to date no one but Barlas has filed.
Barlas last year succeeded state Sen. Kevin O’Toole (R-40) as Essex Republican chairman and is O’Toole’s political protege.
