There will be a runoff election for BCRO chairman next Thursday in Bergen County after an inconclusive result tonight.

Cresskill attorney John McCann is out.

McCann received 198 (26.43%) votes, Anthony Rottino received 268 (35.78%) votes, and Bob Yudin got 283 (37.78%) votes.

The BCRO will have a runoff election next Thursday between Rottino and Yudin.

The winner needed 50% plus one or 375 to win the election outright tonight.

McCann said he won’t advise the people who voted for him to support one of the two remaining candidates in this contest.

“It would be anathema to the campaign I ran,” he told PolitickerNJ.com.

He said based on what he knows today he doesn’t see anything so bad emanating from either side that he feels morally compelled to pick a side. He said he anticipates declaring his own candidate on the night of the election next Thursday.

State Sen. Gerry Cardinale (R-39), at Yudn’s side in preparation for a runoff against their arch enemy, Rottino, said of McCann, “I thought he would come in second.”
