HADDONFIELD – Gov. Chris Christie expressed support at a town hall here for solar energy bills working their way through committees.
The Assembly passed its version last week, and the amended bill now goes to the Senate, where Christie said it is expected it will be worked on Thursday or next week.
“If they pass that bill, I’ll sign it,” he said.
A2966/S1925, in essence, seeks to promote solar power growth while controlling costs.
Sponsor Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula said he had been working with the administration to come up with a bill that would win passage.
Christie said these bills represent a way to look at the solar industry and have New Jersey build on its status as No. 2 in the nation in solar installations.
