Christie: No regrets about standing up to heckler

TRENTON – Gov. Chris Christie defended his reaction to a Boardwalk heckler July 5.

During a press conference today, he said his strong reaction to the situation in Seaside Heights stemmed from profanity the heckler used in the presence of his son, daughter, and two of their friends.

The man made critical remarks about the governor’s education policies, and Christie yelled back at him: “You’re a real big shot … you’re a real big shot shooting your mouth off.’’

Christie said he deals with hecklers a lot and does not react if he is alone, but he said he was not going to ignore the use of profanity in the presence of young children.

“There are times when you are a father first,’’ he said today. “If they do it when I’m alone I just ignore it, but not in front of my kids. I won’t have it.”

“I don’t have any second thoughts about it or regrets about it at all.’’ Christie: No regrets about standing up to heckler
