Hans Zimmer, the composer behind The Dark Knight Rises score, has released a song titled “Aurora” today to raise money for the theatre shooting victims.
People can download the song at WaterTowerMusic.com after donating anywhere between 10 cents and $2,500, all of which will be given to the Aurora Victim Relief organization.
On his Facebook page, Mr. Zimmer said he recorded the ethereal, eight-minute song in London after he heard about the massacre.
Last week, Mr. Zimmer told Rolling Stone that, in the aftermath of the tragedy, “words became meaningless.”
“Here we are, we were trying to celebrate this movie and celebrating that we’d finished it and then this happened. I just feel so incredibly sad for these people,” he said.
Mr. Zimmer is not the first Dark Knight Rises cast member to show support for the Aurora victims. Christian Bale visited some of the surviving victims at the Medical Center of Aurora South on Tuesday.
“Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” he said in a statement. “I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
