A former attorney for Bergen County Democrats is slated to appear before a Newark federal court judge today.
Dennis Oury is charged with fraud and failure to file tax returns, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Oury is scheduled for a status conference before Judge Stanley Chesler at 2 p.m.
Oury, former counsel to the Bergen Democrats, was indicted in 2008 alongside his business partner and the former Bergen County Democratic chairman, Joseph Ferriero, on several counts of conspiracy and mail fraud charges, according to published reports.
Oury later pleaded guilty to charges just days before the two men were prepared to stand trial.
