The Princeton University Art Museum has received a $5 million gift, courtesy of two alumni from the class of 1976, to endow its directorship.

The gift comes from Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger, and it will create the appropriately-named Nancy A. Nasher-David J. Haemisegger, Class of 1976, Directorship.

Princeton President Shirley M. Tilghman told the Princeton Patch, “This much-appreciated gift will strengthen the ability of one of Princeton’s great treasures to meet the educational and scholarly needs of our University community, while broadening the artistic horizons of countless visitors.”

James Steward, a professor in Princeton’s department of art and archaeology, will be the first to hold the position.
