Ms. Nissley was a member of the Board of Trustees and of the Foundation of Bergen Community College, a New Jersey Sports and Exposition Commissioner and a Commissioner of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission. She was a long–time member of the Bergen County Republican County Committee and Republican State Committeewoman for Bergen County, serving on the New Jersey Republican State Committee for some 45 years.

“Eleanore was a great personal friend, a great Republican and a great friend to the people of Bergen County who she served for over a half century,” said Bergen County Executive Kathe Donovan. “Personally, Eleanore was the Chair of my campaigns for many years and was a guiding light for all of us. Eleanore Nissley was full of wit and wonder and had a great capacity for public service. Her compassion for her fellow man and woman was unbounded.

“There will never be another Eleanore Nissley, and we are all the poorer for her passing,” the county executive added.

Funeral arrangements and a memorial service are incomplete at this time.
