Lautenberg: Christie’s tenure as governor a ‘terrible comedy of errors’

U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) joined the fray of Democrats blasting Republicans and Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday ahead of the governor’s keynote address at the Republican National Convention.

Lautenberg hosted a telephone conference alongside the chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, state Assemblyman John Wisniewski, referring to Christie’s tenure as governor as a “terrible comedy of errors.”

“It’s less than a joke that Gov. Christie should be addressing the Republican convention and talking about what they have to do to win the election,” Lautenberg said.

“It’s baloney,” he said. “There’s no New Jersey comeback.”

The telephone conference came after Wisniewski hosted a news conference with Congressman Rush Holt (D-N.J.) outside of the New Jersey Statehouse. U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) also hosted a Trenton news conference today.
