Aspen ArtCrush, the Aspen Art Museum’s annual fundraising event, begins today with cocktails and dinner at the home of collectors John and Amy Phelan, and continues through Friday with a silent and live auction presented by Sotheby’s Oliver Barker on the grounds of the museum. Work will be available by artists including Carroll Dunham, Eric Fischl, Tom Friedman, Mark Grotjahn, Jim Hodges, Joyce Pensato, Tom Sachs, Stephen Shore, Monika Sosnowska, Fred Tomaselli. Artist Tom Sachs will receive the 2012 Aspen Award for Art, presented each year to an artist who has made a significant contribution to the field of contemporary art. Past honorees are Roni Horn (2011), Marilyn Minter (2010), Fred Tomaselli (2009), Ed Ruscha (2008), Jim Hodges (2007), Tony Feher (2006) and Richard Tuttle (2005).

The benefit coincides with two exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum, which will be on view through Oct. 7: “Lucio Fontana: Ceramics” and, in the museum’s lower galleries, a solo exhibition of work by Amelie von Wulffen. Have a look at some of the work on offer at Friday’s auction.
