ST. PETERSBURG – The NJGOP delegation prepared for a long day on the occasion of Gov. Chris Christie’s keynote speech to the Republican National Convention.
Delegates will leave the Sirata Beach Resort at noon to go to the convention center in Tampa.
Other attendees will leave at 4.
All of them will remain at the convention through Christie’s scheduled speech until midnight.
“There’s an Anheuser Busch nearby to help out,” cracked state Sen. Sam Thompson (R-12).
Looking not a little vaguely hung over, the Republicans zigzagged unsteadily to the coffee urns as a wide-awake deejay played a string of Southern-themed hits, including Tina Turner’s version of the CCR classic, “Proud Mary,” and “When the Saints Come Marching In.”
A delegate’s wife waved off a PolitickerNJ.com camera.
“This is last night’s eyeliner,” she protested.
