The Advance Group, a political consulting firm that’s involved in a number of races throughout New York City this election cycle, has picked up two new hires: former Executive Director for the Kings County Democratic Party Jonathan Yedin and veteran Long Island political operative Jeff Guillot.
Mr. Yedin, who previously headed up political efforts for Brooklyn’s Democratic leader Vito Lopez, has been a notable background player in that borough’s politics and at one point even expressed interest in former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s seat. He also worked as the campaign manager for Congressman Mike McMahon’s reelection bid and was a former aide to Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny and Councilman David Greenfield. Mr. Guillot, for his part, is a former aide to Congressman Gary Ackerman, Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, and Councilman Jim Gennaro.
They’ll be joining a political consulting group headed up by Scott Levenson — a noted operative who has managed multiple citywide and statewide campaigns.
Mr. Yedin and Mr. Guillot are hardly the only staffing hires of New York City politicos in recent days, however.
Steve Stites announced last week he would now start handling communications for Senator David Storobin instead of Councilman Halloran, while Eric Ulrich also poached Congressman Bob Turner’s staffer Bob Capano to run his State Senate campaign, for example.
