Governor kicks Giants, Jets for Meadowlands project opposition

SOUTH AMBOY – Gov. Chris Christie says the Giants and Jets team owners should be ashamed of themselves for stalling the American Dream Meadowlands expansion project.

During his town hall today, the governor responded to a question about construction projects in the state, saying it’s inexcusable that the two football teams are using the courts to block the expansion project.

“The Jets and the Giants make enough money, don’t you think?” Christie asked in response to the question.

“I say shame on those owners, shame on those owners for putting their own interests against the people of the state,” he said, urging people to put pressure on the teams.

“Get on the phone … and tell them to stop the nonsense,” he said.
