James Cohan Gallery has announced that it now represents Brooklyn-based artist Spencer Finch. Mr. Finch works in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture and drawing.
He was the subject of MASS MoCA’s 2007 exhibition, “What Time Is It On the Sun?” His recent works include Painting Air, a site-specific installation at the RISD Museum that includes a Monet-inspired mural that is distorted by 100 panels of suspended glass, and, at the Art Institute of Chicago, Lunar, which uses energy from the sun to eventually produce the glow of a full moon. He currently has a permanent installation on the High Line called The River That Flows Both Ways, which uses 700 individual panes of glass to represent a 700-minute trip down the Hudson River.
His first exhibition with the gallery will be in May 2013.
