A1277 permits a restricted brewery, or brewpub, to increase annual production from 3,000 to 10,000 barrels a year. The annual fee of $1,250 for production of the first 1,000 barrels would remain unchanged, but the fee for each additional 1,000 barrels would decrease from $625 to $250.

In addition, the bill allows a restricted brewery to distribute its products to liquor stores and restaurants through the wholesale distribution system. Currently, licensees may only sell their products in a restaurant adjacent to the brewery.

The bill, which recognizes the growing presence of smaller breweries in the industry, Increases from two to ten the number of restricted brewery locations a company may operate in New Jersey.
