Sorry, Wicked-bound tourists–the lights of Broadway are turning off.
The Broadway League has announced via press release that all Broadway performances tonight and tomorrow are canceled due to the arrival of Hurricane Sandy and the shutdown of the subway system.
Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of the league, said “The safety and security of theatergoers and employees is everyone’s primary concern.” Parts of the Theater District to the south and west fall within the city’s Zone C, where a strong hurricane could cause flooding.
