It seems that the British sculptor Henry Moore might remain in vogue this auction season. We just received our first of the fall auction catalogues, for the Sotheby’s Imp-Mod sale, and if you’re one for micro-trends we’ve already noticed that the sale will feature five statues by Henry Moore. This makes him the third most represented artist in the auction, just behind Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.
As you may recall, Moore is having a bit of a moment just now. This February saw his highest auction record ever, $30 million at Christie’s London, and over the summer Gagosian staged a show on the artist at his Britannia Street gallery. Seems the fever’s spread across the pond! All the Moores in this auction are priced around $2.5 million.
