Christie: Gas rationing system to be lifted Tuesday morning

LINCROFT – Gov. Chris Christie said Monday the odd/even gas rationing system that has been in place for some 10 days will be lifted at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

He said during a press briefing into storm recovery efforts here that the system had been successful in reducing gas lines and relieving anxiety.

Also, 98 percent of schools and 96 percent of school districts will be operating by Tuesday, he said.

However, he said 30,000 residents who live on the barrier islands will have to wait a much longer time before they return to normal.

He added that PATH trains have been resumed as well.
