EZ-Pass ‘truth’ in tolls bill passes

TRENTON – The Senate passed bills dealing with EZ-Pass and foreclosure proceedings.

S1434: Passed 36-0. This bill requires the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the South Jersey Transportation Authority to install electronic displays at the collection points on every EZ-Pass toll lane of the State’s three toll roads to show the toll amount paid by EZ-Pass users when they pass through a toll.

S1740: Passed 31-0. This bill allows a municipality to require a creditor who initiates a foreclosure proceeding against a residential property to maintain the property in accordance with State and local housing codes if the property becomes vacant during the foreclosure proceeding.

SCR132: Passed 22-13. This concurrent resolution urges the Governor to support the expansion of the New Jersey Medicaid program as provided for under the federal “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

The expansion would be fully funded by the federal government the first three years and phased down over three years to cover 90 percent permanently
