TRENTON – After criticizing some federal lawmakers for treating residents affected by Superstorm Sandy like “pawns” in a political chess game, Gov. Chris Christie lashed out at members of his own party.
“That’s why people hate Washington D.C. [and] that’s why they hate this politics,” Christie said today, explaining dysfunction in the nation’s capitol is the reason a $60.4 billion aid package failed to make it to the president’s desk.
The governor – who blasted Republican Speaker John Boehner during the fiery news conference – also saved harsh words for his own political party.
“Last night it was my party,” he said. “Both parties can take plenty of responsibility over time, but last night my party was responsible for this.”
